Processing Plants

We build life-long client partnerships.

CFAM design, manufacture, install and commission turn-key extrusion plants. CFAM’s extrusion plants have a user-friendly operator interface. The system is fully automated, robust, and require minimum human input. It is also remotely accessible and IOT enabled.

Recipes are programmed into the system, to ensure quality reliability and product consistency. The system offers fault finding diagnostics and data logging for root cause analysis. CFAM also offers 24-hours local maintenance support to ensure smooth operation of the plant.

Snacks Plants

The global market for extruded snacks is estimated to be US $ 48.3 billion and growing at a CAGR of 4.4% per annum.  Extruded snacks are among the most commercially successful extruded foods. Extrusion cooking is the process extensively used for the production of snacks which are mainly produced from maize or other grains. There are many different types of snacks in this category for consumers to choose from, including traditional snacks, healthier snacks and even “free-from” options like gluten-free snacks. Extruded snacks are typically offered in the market with a variety of flavours.

Instant porridge & cereal plants

The global Breakfast Cereals market amounted to US$29.9 billion in retail sales in 2018. This market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.5% between 2019 and 2023 to be valued at US$58.7 billion by 2023. Breakfast cereals include Ready-To-Eat (RTE) porridges, multi-cereal flakes, high fiber cereals, cornflakes, mueslis, and other wheat bran cereals. Instant porridges are becoming increasingly popular, because of the nutritional advantages, cost and shelve life of these products. These porridges can be made from maize, sorghum, wheat and other grains.

Plant protein plants

The world is continuously moving towards a more plant-based diet, due to the health benefits, environmental impact as well as food security better supported by this diet. The global plant-based protein market size was valued at USD 10.3 billion in 2020 to USD 15.6 billion by 2026. Extrusion is one of the most effective ways to manufacture plant protein products often using soy and other legumes. This can be divided into two categories, namely dry and wet extruded products.

Dry extrusion processing is the most common method utilised to create texturised proteins, as it allows a wide range of raw materials, has a broad flexibility in creating textures, and is the most cost-effective method for production of high volumes of product. Dry extruded plant protein products have a very long shelve life, and needs to be rehydrated prior to eating.

The second extrusion processing method used for making plant protein products is high-moisture processing and is often referred to as HME (high moisture extrusion), HMEC (high moisture extrusion cooking), or HMMA (high-moisture meat analogues). High-moisture plant proteins usually require temperature-controlled storage, but offers a wide variety of products, very similar to their meat alternatives.

Aqua feed plants

Driven by the increasing consumption of fish meat due to world population boom and the limitation of wild catch, volume growth rate of global aquaculture has been sustained at about 8% over the last 10 years (since 2012), and must continuously undergo development in order to fill the gap between supply and demand for this market.

Extruded aqua feed is divided into four categories:

  • Floating feed
  • Slow sinking feed
  • Sinking feed
  • Abalone feed

Wheat bran and soybean meal are often used in aqua feed, together with a number of other ingredients. Extrusion ensures optimal nutrition and absorption of the feed.

Pet food plants

The global pet food extrusion market is projected to reach USD 72.64 Billion by 2022. The increasing demand for extruded pet food has been fueled by the need for nutritious pet food with a long shelf life and high bacterial safety. Based on animal type, the pet food extrusion market has been segmented into dogs, cats, fish, birds, and others (rabbits and reptiles). However, the dog and cat segments dominated the global extruded pet food products market. Extrusion improves the palatability and digestibility of petfood. Another advantage is the increased utilization of proteins and starch in the food.

Special purpose plants

Various other niche products can be extruded and therefore requires specific equipment. A processing plant can be designed and manufactured for these niche products, depending on the application.
