CFAM Technologies (Pty) Ltd developed from a research project in 1998 to an established extrusion technology company that designs and manufactures world-class food and feed processing plants and equipment. In 2002 the Centre for Advanced Manufacturing (CFAM) as established at the School for Mechanical Engineering at the North-West University (NWU) in Potchefstroom, South Africa.
The focus of CFAM is to do continuous research and development in twin-screw extrusion technology, high precision manufacturing, product development and localisation. The twin-screw extruders that are developed by CFAM are a good example of localisation through initial reverse engineering and further product development and optimisation.
Previously twin-screw extruders were imported from mainly Europe, the UK and the USA. CFAM developed and localised twin-screw extruders that are not only used in South-Africa, but globally as well.
CFAM Technologies (Pty) Ltd was established as a spin-off company of the NWU to roll out commercially the twin-screw extrusion equipment and products that were developed. The twin-screw extruders are being used for food extrusion, feed extrusion for pet food, aqua feed and animal feed, waste extrusion as well as other niche applications.

We are passionate about food security and enable communities to utilize locally produced agricultural products to support food security through extrusion technology.
